When locals ask AI for the best in your city, are you in the answer?
Foxish asks the questions locals ask, for your trade in your city, and shows which businesses get named, how often, and which sites the assistants cite.
Hotels and med spas also see what TikTok and Instagram creators say about them.
Want to see it first? Run the free local check → It asks ChatGPT eight questions about your trade in your city. No account.

Local business categories we cover
Why now
Local customers are starting to ask AI.
The Google Maps pack still matters. But people also ask an AI assistant who to call, and the answer names a handful of businesses. Those answers are not the same as a search result, and they change with how the question is asked.
Local-SEO work on your Google Business Profile, reviews and listings is still worth doing. Foxish measures the other side: which businesses the assistants actually name in your city, and which sites they cite when they do.
What we measured
What AI assistants say about local businesses
A small test we ran ourselves, October 2026: one assistant, ten questions. A sample of who gets named, not a ranking.
companies named
We asked ChatGPT ten questions a San Diego homeowner might type about HVAC. It named 25 different companies, and the most-named appeared in 5 of the 10 answers.
other answers
Asked "who is the best HVAC company in San Diego?", ChatGPT picked one company that did not appear in any of the other nine answers. Who gets named depends on how the question is asked.
changes by question
A mini-split question, a furnace question and a La Jolla question each surfaced a different set of companies. One search does not tell you where you stand.
assistants cite
In our data for three health systems, Healthgrades, Yelp, Facebook and Reddit were among the most-cited sites. We show which sites the assistants cite in your category.
Creators
What creators in your city show and say about you and your competitors
Travelers and clients choose where to stay or who to see by watching TikTok and Instagram creators. Foxish finds the new videos, and Instagram photo posts, in your city that tag or name your business or a competitor you track, shows the quote and the place they tagged, and the lines the creator said around the name.
“The pool area is the heart of it, with great energy.”
What they said around it: 4 lines, with the name highlighted.
What creators say about Harborview Hotel
PositiveGreat pool atmosphere 3 videos from 3 creators
NegativePool access costs extra 2 videos from 2 creators
A fictional hotel and fictional creators, shown to explain the layout.
Scoped to your city
Searches carry your city and the creators we watch are per city. A chain tagged in many cities is shown for yours first; the rest sit under a count.
Tagged and untagged, side by side
Mentions the creator tagged or wrote in the caption are listed apart from the ones they only said or showed, so you see both.
What they say around your name
The creator's own words before and after the name, and the points at least two different creators made, each with the quote that backs it.
Honest about what it covers
It reads a sample of new videos and Instagram photo posts, not every video, and says how many it looked at. Photo posts are read on Instagram only, for the text printed on them and the accounts tagged; logos are not read. A mention is not an endorsement, and a model groups the points, so check the quotes.
What we measured
A small test we ran ourselves, October 2026: San Diego, TikTok, four hotels tracked. Nearly all the videos that named a tracked hotel also tagged its location, which is why tagged and untagged mentions are shown together. It is one city and one run, not a measure of every market. Available for hotels and med spas with a city, from the Growth plan.
A second small test, October 2026: 12 San Diego med spa and hotel Instagram accounts, 144 posts, of which 68 were photo posts or carousels and not videos. We read the text printed on some of them and counted who they tagged; none named a business we were tracking, so we make no claim about how often they do.

The basics
Do AI assistants actually name local businesses?
Yes. Assistants with web search answer "best [X] near me" and "top [X] in [city]" questions by naming specific businesses. In our own small test of ten San Diego HVAC questions, ChatGPT named 25 different companies. It was one assistant and ten questions, so read it as a sample, not a ranking.
How is this different from local SEO?
Local SEO targets the Google Maps pack and ranked links. Foxish measures something else: which businesses the AI assistants name in their answers, how often, and which sites they cite. We do not audit your Google Business Profile, check listing consistency across directories, or manage reviews; a local-SEO tool does that, and the two work together.
Coverage
Which local categories are covered?
98 local and professional-service categories across healthcare, dental, legal, financial, real estate, home services and hospitality, including dentists, plumbers, HVAC, roofers, electricians, lawyers and hospitals. If yours is missing, tell us and we will add it.
What if I have more than one location?
Each account tracks one city today. Multi-city roll-ups are not built yet. If you need them, email support@foxish.ai and tell us how many cities.
Does it work at the neighborhood level?
Not yet. We measure at the city level: every question is asked with your city. A neighborhood such as La Jolla or Park Slope is not tracked as its own market.
Creators
Does it show what TikTok and Instagram creators say about my business?
For hotels and med spas with a city, from the Growth plan: it finds new TikTok and Instagram videos, and Instagram photo posts, in your city that tag or name your business or a competitor you track, and shows the quote, the place they tagged and the lines the creator said around the name. For photo posts it reads the text printed on the images and counts the accounts tagged in the post; it does not read logos, and TikTok photo posts are not covered. It reads a sample of new posts each day, not every video, and other local categories do not have it yet.
